Setup: BAS Preparation
Hi there At the moment MyobLive doesn't seem to have much automated functionalityfor BAS. Given that the system already calcuates the BAS it seems really odd that the user has to manually create a spend journal or a reversal to allocate GST Paid, Collected, PAYG instalment etc, and also fill in the ATO forms. Surely this could all be automated, afterall it's the most confusing thing for small business and the one where MYOB already does much of the heavy lifting (in my case, the main reason for using the package in the first place). It would be good to have the ability to generate a Balance Sheet and P&L that shows prior period comparative data within Live Accounts. If possible, the option to show additional columns such as $ movement or % movement would be helpful also. Most accountants would find this helpful in analyzing the performance of a business. The General Ledger report within MYOB Essentials (and all other MYOB software packages) should have a Gross column. This is especially frustrating for clients who have recently moved from BankLink and are accustomed to this feature in their reports. I know that this will have been suggested many times by customers. Other software providers such as Reckon and Xero integrate this feature, so this is something that MYOB should be on board with. It would be handy to have a way to elect to print Quantities and Average Price field in the Essentials General Ledger report. Prior to the introduction of quantities, the report printed nicely in a portrait format. Now the report is landscape, to include the Quantities and Average price column, and it results in a lot of wasted space and paperwhen you have many clients who dont use Quantites. It would be ideal if there was a tick box where you could toggle on or off the printing ofQuantity and avg cost details. Please include a report option for cash basis balance sheet. Xerodoes it. Ye at MYOB may think "we better not do it because our competitor does it" but it does make life simpler for us accountants. It will be a simple matter to generate the cash balance sheet: Start with accruals balance sheet Remove income items not yet paid from P&L income accounts and trade debtors Remove expense items not yet paid from P&L expense accounts and trade creditors Apply adjustments to retained earnings account in report The above method is probably already in use for the cash P&L. A lot of small businesses operate on a cash basis and there ends up a discrepancy when you use an accrual balance sheet and a cash profit and loss. The retained earnings account ends up different. I need to run off a cashflow statement report in LiveAccounts & you can't. The best I can do is aP&L mthly on cash basis or print off a bank trans report mthly. But either way I will still need to enter the data separately on say an excel spreadsheet. I need to show that my client can meet repayments on new equipment they want to lease. I would like to see a full Printable BAS report inside MYOB Essentials similar to BAS Link in AccountRight or the BAS report in BankLink. At the moment it appears this is the only product on the market where this is not possible to produce. Clients have to run a GST report and Seperately a PAYG Report then manually add on the their FTC or Instalments. A very clumsy process. This information prefills in the BAS lodgement area so this is possible but you are unable to print this out and it requires you to be registered for online lodgement of BAS. My preference is that this would be a report in the report section of MYOB Essentials and that it was possible to add in the instalements, FBT and Fuel tax credits manually.
