IO.IOException Error with MYOB AO Solution

This is to help others looking for a solution to an IO.IOExcepion Error when starting MYOB Accountants Office.

Sorry I could not find the AO location to put this solution.

We recently tried to start up AO, logging in with usual account name and password, but was met with an error message IO.IOException Error. Did the usual restart computer and couldn't think of any changes we had made to computer overnight.

Rang MYOB help and they had no idea. Tried a repair but after a couple of hours gave up.

I looked for any recent windows 10 updates but none recent.

After a bit of Googleing I stumbled on an idea from someone, saying that there is a limit of 65,535 files in the %temp% folder by dotnet program.

Yes indeed it was just over that limit so I cleared it out and now AO works as before.

I am disapointed that MYOB support personel would not know this fix, and that at the very least a check of the %temp% folder file limit had not been reached when installing or repairing MYOB AO.

I hope this may solve your problems.

Good Luck.

  • Hello BigTD

Thanks for providing that solution to the Community Forum - it will definitely be helpful if someone does come across the error.

The Accountants Office software does use a few different versions of .NET, and MYOB support personnel are able to troubleshoot and identify some of the more common errors that can come up with .NET, because they have come across them before.

For environmental issues such as the one you came across, we do our best to assist, but sometimes we will refer to the experts. In this case, either Microsoft or your IT provider would be my recommendation.

Thanks again for following up to let us know your solution!
