Cloud: Make AccountRight Live fully browser based
Hi, I used to work for ESR. (www.esr.cri.nz ) . They are contracted to the Ministry of Health (as one of their main clients). They originally had a desk top version of EpiSurv (their database / reporting tool so Public Health Services can report and follow up cases and outbreaks of notifiable diseases). While I was at ESRthey moved EpiSurv to a web browser application. Note that only the PHS involved (and their approved users) can see the details of their own particular data. (Security is very tight. I understand they have to get through two totally separate servers). The advantage of all this is that ESR maintains ALL the updates to EpiSurv. The Public Health Services NEVER EVER have to worry about having to update "their" EpiSurv. They no longer have to download any updates to the programat ALL. All they concern themselves about is whether or not they have a good stable internet connection - which ALL businesses, large or very small have to have these days anyway - and definitely not just for accounting purposes. When is MYOB going to do the same thing as ESR did many years ago and as I understand Xero did a while back? Get with the times MYOB. As an AccountRight Premier Live subscriber with multiple users, it would be useful to have a simplified system for each user to go 'offline' as required (as internet is not reliable in our area) and others stay online. I have read a couple of other threads concerning the latency issue encounted with AR Live. It appears to me that with every action performed, AR is connecting to the servers to download and upload information. Simply inputting a sale can take an excesivley long time as the program connects to the cloud servers to get a list of items (along with ancillary information connected with that item) before you can select an item. Once the sale is input, and the "record" button is pressed, the program uploads this information straight away - while the user sits in front of the computer like a chump not being able to do anything until the information of that sale has been uploaded. Wouldn't it be an easier idea to make the upload in a background thread? Record it onto the disk first (which doesnt take long) and sync with the cloud server in the background enabling the user to continue using AR without interruption? So my suggestion is to make the syncing a background process enabling the user to continue using the system while the upload is happening. FYI my system is less than one year old with an i7 processor, 8gb RAM, and AR installed and working off an SSD. We use ADSL2+ internet with only 2-3 other devices using the network at any one time. When I send my v19 file to my accountant, I zip the file. That means the 157mb file becomes a 25~mb zipped file. Why not use the same concept when you first require users to upload the AR Live files? I'm just evaluating AR Live now and waiting for the company file to upload isn't fun. Also there is no feed back on the progress of the upload. How many more megabytes remain for the upload? What is the estimated time or the average upload speed? Those features will help users not become frustrated at the process. Sure this stuff might seem like the icing on the cake, but it is actually my first impression of AR Live as I prepare to use it for the first time. Regards. Hi Dev Team, This evening I received the following error when I attempted to open and AccountRight file that is on your server. I can get into Essentials & obviously this forum. I am not able to get into my partner dashboard as I get the same cryptic message when I try there also. I assume these services are currently down. Could we please have a dashboard, or some sort of status screen that will show us the health of each service. I was unsure if I typed the incorrect password, but as I could log in to some services but not others, I suspect that was not the problem. Rather that the service I need is currently down. The ATO do this with their Tax Agents & BAS Agents portal. That way I know if I should keep trying or give up. Continually trying to connect when the service is down is just another waste of my time. When syncing the Service Mate software with AccountRight, the invoices are unable to be located through the Find Transactions Window. They can be located in the all other screens but not the Find Transaction screen.This is making it very time consuming to work out what payment goes to what invoice. Hi Development Team, In AccountRight, it is possible to change the user ID you are currently logging in with by selecting File » Switch Company File User, rather than having to exit out and then log back in again. Nice. It is also a great feature when you have your user id linked to your my.MYOB account, but you need to log into AR with a different user profile. However, it would be helpful to have the user ID that you are currently logged in with displayed so you know which profile you are using.
