Is your company file online? If so, backing up the company file is essentially downloading the entire file, which depends on your download speed heavily.
I'd suggest following this Speed and performance tips to optimise the set up, and make sure AccountRight is excluded from anti-virus software. If internet speed isn't ideal, you may consider working offline, and back up the file offline before checking in the file online and upload the changes.
