Sometimes when you're running a company, it's good to take a step back and look at the big picture. And if you're the kind of person who likes to get your business information from visuals, we think you'll love our new Windows 8 companion app for AccountRight Live.

It's designed to show you the information you need to make better decisions for your business. So now you can keep a constant eye on your Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet, as well as seeing who owes you money and who you owe money to.

All your information is presented on your Windows 8 device in easy to read graphs that automatically update every 15 minutes (or whenever you refresh it), so the data you're viewing is always the latest.

As far as viewing your information, you can move between calendar year and financial year and change from graphs to tables, depending on your personal preference.

You can compare last year's figures to this year's, which is a nifty way of seeing how well you're performing, or where you might be being held back.

What I really like is that you can pin any of the tiles, like your debtors, to the start page, where you can keep a constant eye on them.

So that quick coffee break between meetings can be turned into a chance to check that your cashflow is all okay.

The app was developed in partnership with Microsoft using the MYOB API. It's currently in beta, so we'd love to hear what you think of it. Drop me a line with your thoughts.

(As an aside, if you haven't checked out the great stuff our API team are working on, or you want to get your geek on and develop something to go with AccountRight, get yourselves into their world.)

Does this app sound like something you'd like to get your hands on?

Then head to the Windows Store (Australia) (New Zealand) and download it for free.

To use the app, you need to have a Windows 8 device, running Windows 8.1. You also need to have an AccountRight Live subscription, with your file in the cloud. (Although you don't need to have AccountRight installed on your Windows device.)

Then keep an eye on the big picture view of your company - wherever you are, whatever you're doing.

Version 4.0
  • Hi,

I have just found this app and after installing I cant log into my company file.

I keep  getting this message: Your company file is out of date. Please use your AccountRight desktop software to upgrade it to the latest version.

My file is up to date. How can this be fixed?

    Paul.

    Hi Paul (PavelMin

Thanks for dropping me a line about the error message. I'll look into that for you. Can you just confirm which version of AccountRight you're using? Is it 2014.4?

(If you're not sure which version you're using, go to the Help menu in AccountRight and select About MYOB AccountRight to find out.)

    Thanks,

    Merrin

    Hi Paul  (PavelMin)

Thanks for the version number. I've had our dev team look into this, and they've fixed the "out of date" issue that you've been experiencing. You should be able to log in to the app now.

    Thanks,

    Merrin

  • Hi, I am getting the same File is not up to date error as discussed above on a number of files.  Is there a solution coming?

  • Hi PAWBNE

I have this app installed on my Windows 8 PC and it does not work at all.  It produces incorrect data, takes forever to actually load anything and is basically broken.

My understanding is that it is dead in the water.  It appears not to have been updated for at least two years and it is still considered a Beta Release.

Given that there has been so many changes to AccountRight over the last two years it could not possibly work without constant updating.

It is a real pity as it had huge potential especially in the accountants space where they could potential monitor many clients data files simultaneously.
