Delete an account with a tax code

Is there a REAL answer to how to delete an account that has a tax code attached.

You cant remove the tax code - it just puts it straight back

Youi cant change the tax code to one that has no links - tried that

NONE of the answers given in the past work.

I simply want to remove an account that is not used, has no balances or transactions, but has a tax code assigned to it.

Having a tax code does not prevent an account from being deleted. Using an account as the linked account for a tax code does prevent account deletion. For example if account 2-2222 is the linked account for GST paid, account 2-2222 cannot be deleted. You need to go to the tax code (Lists > Tax codes) select GST and change the linked account to 2-2223. If there are no transactions linked to a/c 2-2222, you should now be able to delete account 2-2222.

If this does not work for you, take screen shots showing the linked accounts for the tax code as well as the message you receive when trying to delete. Someone might then be able to see what is causing the issue.

        Hi, tryingtoeval

        Thanks for your post.

Sorry for the delay in response.

As gavin12345 mentioned, you can delete an account if there is no transaction made on it and if it is not linked to a GST payment. We are glad to hear that the resolution provided by gavin12345 worked for you. Please feel free to post again if you require any further assistance. We are happy to assist.

        Best regards,

        Doreen
