How to change user email address

In following Q&A solution I deactivated a user and recreated with their same name but updated email address but received message "There is already a user with this name. Enter a different name."  Is there any way you can just update the email address and have the same name?

      Thanks Sai.  The user does not have access to my.MYOB although she is set up i.e.

        The new website that they need to go for them to access the file is app.myob.com.

    The user did go into app.myob.com and same issue.
