312 Clearwater files on dropbox

Hi,

I have been having trouble with my dropbox and while investigating the issue I came across 312 Clearwater files which were syncing and supposedly still had 2+ days to complete the sync!

What is going on?

Surely I only need 1 Clearwater file, if any at all??

How do I stop MYOB & Dropbox clogging my weak internet connection ???

  • Hi DeannaK

    Thank you for your post.

Generally the clearwater files are sample company files that are automatically installed as part of installation to be used as testing by clients. We do recommend these files to remain in the system, however,  it is totally up to the user and these files can be deleted or moved if not required (The default location of these files is C:/Users/Public or username/Documents/MYOB/My AccountRight files/Clearwater.myox ).

Alternatively, you can also set Dropbox not to sync certain folders for which you can seek IT assistance if you are not sure on how to do that.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Does the Clearwater file open each time MYOB is opened?

I can't think of any other way that Dropbox is thinking it needs updating. I don't ever open up the Clearwater file.

For dropbox to be creating "conflict"duplicater files, the Clearwater must be open. I NEVER open the Clearwater file, so what is MYOB doing for dropbox to think it is open ???

        Hi DeannaK

When you open AccountRight, all the files in AccountRight library are scanned in the background and therefore, dropbox thinks that all those files have been updated, whereas in reality you are only opening your company file.

As I mentioned, the best way to stop this from happening would be to change the location of those clearwater files to a folder that Dropbox does not sync or to delete them.
