Annoying mannual login required every day

It's so annoying and silly that MYOB now even removed the "trust for 30 days", where we have to manually input both email address and password every single day.

The silly thing is that the "trust device for 12 hours" function is used as an advantage.

How do developers feel about manually login all systems you use every day?

Live chat said that the removal of trust for 30 days is as per users' request. This is even more silly. the need to log in every 30 days was already a competitive DISADVANTAGE compared with other accounting systems which auto-login can be set up at the beginning of users' journey. Instead of fixing it, MYOB made it even worse by removing it.

Currently: input of BOTH email and password is required everyday

No setting to remember email at least

No setting to custom login setting to allow users to personalize the trust on the device

When some users don't need to "trust for 30 days", they could easily opt to not use that function and request "do not remind". But MYOB, on this occasion, removes this optional function for ALL users without considering the inconvenience of other users and leaves us no option but to take on this INCONVENIENCE.

  • I 100% agree.  Having the get the authentication code EVERY SINGLE DAY is beyond frustrating.  It's ridiculous.

I cannot agree more.  having to open up to 10 files multiple times every day is becoming tiresome.  The remember for 30 days does not wok as I still have to enter the authentication code multiple times per day as well.  Now we cant even log in at all.

      Hi Sinclair,

Our team is currently looking into the login disruption. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience while we work on it. You can stay updated on the progress by visiting our public status page.

      Cheers,

      MYOB

    • We can't login either now. Same problem, code after code, then one day just stopped working.

I'm finding it even worse than that, it started off with needing authorisation code once a day, with having to put in email (no option for remembering that) and that seemed to cover the two company files I used and now it's having to log in fully and put in a authorisation code every single time and it requests it for each company file. So having to do the log in and 2FA multiple times a day now. They should at least give a 7 day option or something longer so that those that don't need to don't have to authorise every time and also bring back remembering the email. No one can get in without the password so it shouldn't be an issue to remember the email.

There's having security features and then there is this, where it's just taking so much extra time to try and get up and running. I don't like leaving MYOB open in between sessions of work as I've had a problem with having to get a file repaired when the computer shut down suddenly.

I think I am lucky though, it sounds like some people cannot access their files at all because they can't log in, at least I can do it but it's a pain doing it multiple times a day for multiple company files.

  • Hi everyone

But more specifically, there have been 3 members commenting about authenticating when changing between files. Jo15 , MezIndustries and Hemlock

Our identity team will investigate this further, as the repeated 2FA prompts dont sound like the intended experience.

I would like to offer an interim suggestion that might help in the short term though.

    For Desktop
When switching between files, it is best to go to the top menu and go to file > open. Then you can navigate between files without having to do 2FA or re-login
    For Browser
When switching between files, click on the business name on the top right of the screen, then click 'switch business'

  • did anyone else see the message today that popped up in myob that we will have to authenticate after myob has not been used for 30 MINUTES!!!  Are they serious?  That's it.  I'm tapping in out and going to another software.  I'm done.

Hi nicolefitz , the inactivity timeout will only require you to login again (email and password) and will not require you to do 2FA.
      2FA remains at a 24hour requirement

  • Hi LeilaYuan,

Thank you for your post. Please allow us to welcome you to the community forum.

We completely understand your frustration with the recent changes in the login process. It's essential for software to balance security measures with user convenience, and it sounds like this adjustment has impacted your daily workflow negatively. The trust this device for 30 days is for the 2fa code to remember the device you used when you login. This option only works when you sign in with the same device and browser you were using when you selected it. For further information about security changes, kindly refer to this article : Update - Improved Security - 2FA changes.

Your feedback on this matter is incredibly valuable, and we'll make sure to pass on your concerns to the relevant team. While we can't promise immediate changes, your insights will certainly be taken into serious consideration for future updates. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. Your input helps us better understand our users' needs and work towards creating a more user-friendly experience.

    Cheers,

    Princess

      Hi Princess

I do not mind having to login with name and password and 2FA once a day. However I am a bookkeeper who accesses multiple files and I am currently having to do that for every file. If I forget to do something and have to login to the same client file several times in the day, I have to fill all this in each time. understand security and am happy to do this, but once a day should be sufficient.

can you let me know if it is intended to go back to once a day or will it continue to be for each file every time I open one.

      thanx

      Manola

        Hi LeilaYuan,

The login process shouldn't prompt you to log in again if you're just switching businesses. If you are being prompted to log in when clicking the switch business button, I recommend reaching out to support. You can create a support ticket from the MyAccount window or contact the live chat team through MOCA. Additionally, you can read more about the new login update through this link.

In the meantime, feel free to create a new thread if you need any other help.

        Thanks,
        Genreve

100% agree, very annoying to have get the authentication code every time, especially when it doesn't come through straight away.

this is a constant time waste throughout the day
please enable this 2FA to be turned off or at least reduced to once a day.
Is there any regard for whether your customers actually want this function or not?

Hi Toban , 2FA should only be once every 24 hours
The inactivity timeout will only prompt you to login (Email and password)
If you are getting 2FA multiple times throughout the day, it might be best to get in touch with support and see whether there is something else occurring

    Hi,

I have been exporting and importing tonight from my Trade only Myob's the days sales and purchase orders. 1st I backup the Trade Myobs, then I restore the backup to extract the transaction and import into the main Accounting Myob.

I have now been asked 7 time to enter my email, password and code from my phone.  This is madness.

Also, since late week, when you restore a backup to your library file for exporting transaction, the first option is now to upload the file to the cloud.  This is so dangerous.  When you are restoring backups to seek historical information you can easily update to the cloud and override your current file with the historical file.  Loosing your current file in the cloud. This is straight out madness.

I have at least times 7  myob files open during the day as our company is a multicompany operation, with trade Myob's at our retail stores.  Also, several companies in our Group of companies.

Myob is becoming unfriendly for companies and users to use.  I feel we will have to look at other software in the near future.

Also, with the email received from Myob regarding ATO and new security.  Out of all our company Myob files, only 3 have Payroll actually operating.  All other Myob files are Trading only and have nothing to do with the ATO.  The Trade only files are used at the retail level and are used to export transactions at the end of each day.
