Old Transactions showing as Cleared on Reconciliation Report
I am having a issue with the Bank Reconcilation Report, where Old Transactions are still showing in the
"Cleared Cheques" & "Cleared Deposits"
My bank rec balances correctly - its just there are these transactions that have previously been reconciled are still showing on every bank rec
I have attached bank rec - blanked out payee names for privacy reasons
anyone had this situation before, I use several data files and this has not happened in the other ones
Thankyou in advance
Hi kerynallen
Typically if they show as "Cleared" this means they were ticked off on the Reconcile Accounts window before clicking Reconcile and generating the report.
From how I understood your description there are some old transactions showing up as Cleared in each Reconciliation report, is this correct?
If they always show up despite not being present in the Reconcile Accounts window at the time, how I'd test this is by creating a VOID dummy transaction for today against that account, tick it off in Reconcile Accounts and see what the report shows without reconciling.
Here's the steps to this:
- Go to: Banking > Spend Money
- Ensure the Pay From Account is the relevant Bank Account at the top
- Enter the allocation against any expense account
- Make sure the value is $0 & date is today
- Click Record and Click OK to making the transaction VOID
- Go to: Banking > Reconcile Accounts
- Select the relevant account & todays date
- Tick off ONLY the VOID transaction
- Set the Closing & Calculated Statement balance to be the same
- Click Reconcile, then click Print Report.
On this report it should see what has been Cleared. It should ONLY be the VOID transaction and not the older transactions that show up as you say.
This can give us an idea of if the report is always showing these transactions or if they were cleared at the time of running the transaction.
Once done, you can close the Report & close the Reconcile Accounts window without reconciling to avoid affecting the data.
Keep me posted on how you go.
