Before the last upgrade we were able to print a packing slip without printing the invoice first. This has changed and now we have to print the invoice to be able to print the packing slip. The issue I have with this is most of our customers have their invoice emailed to them which means we are throwing away the printed invoice, which is a waste of paper and toner. Can it be changed back to the old system?

Would be great if after entering a new order you could have the option to Print a Packing Slip. Currently you have to go into Print/Email Invoices window and change a lot of options then print the packing slip.

in the Setup / Preferences / sales tab there is an option available to Print Packing Slips when orders are printed, as well as an option to Print when sales including orders are recorded.
Have a look at that and see if it does what you want.

Thanks for your suggestion David. Only problem is, this also prints an invoice. We only need the packing slip printed at that point.
Would be ideal if you could pick packing slip under Select another form in the print menu.

When you were using the Classic version 19 you were able to cancel the invoice printing and then the Packing Slip print box would appear so you got what you wanted.
Unfortunately in the new v201x versiuons this does not happen when you cancel the invouce print. such a shame and one for the myob developers to address.
However there is a fairly simple way round this. i suggest that you customise your Invoice form to give you only the detail you want for the Packing Slip and name it as such. You can then select this as Another Form from the print menu.

Hi there,
In our business (and I am sure in many others) we like to have a hard copy of the packing slip with the goods. After the goods are delivered successfully we then send the customer the invoice via email. In some cases it can be a few days between printing the packing slip and invoicing the customer (to allow for any delays/changes).
The software currently does not allow you to have the invoice delivery status as 'to be emailed' and print a copy of the packing slip (unless of course you have the invoice status as to be emailed and printed which means you have to also print a copy of the invoice).
I would like the option of being able to print the packing slip (only packing slip-not print a copy of the invoice) and then later email the Tax Invoice to the customer.
I hope this feature can be included in a future version of the software as I believe it would be used by multiple businesses who use hard copy of packing slips and electronic copies of invoice.

Yes its silly you cant just print the packing slip.
I currently:
- Turn order into invoice
- Select print, when the print screen comes up, select print to PDF.
- when it asks for destination folder, i select Cancel.
- The prompt for print packing slip still comes up, Select print as you normaly do..
Then!
Myob closes the sale......... This is stupid..
So you have to re-enter the invoice number to bring the sale up.
- then i email the invoice to client.
I don't underastand why you cant record the sale (window stays open), print what you want (invoice, packing slip ore both) and then email to client all in the one action..

Just wondering if there is a solution for being able to do this with the current version of MYOB AR Live.
I have a client that requires this and has also asked MYOB support on previous occasions and to date has not been given any solution.
It was possible to print packing slips without having to print sales invoices in older versions ie pre AR Live.
So why can't this be included in the next product update?

I've gone through this forum and noticed on quite a few posts there are packing slip improvement requests. Many posts with voting on each post.... This is never going to be implemented if it is spread across so many posts to vote on. I suggest admin adresses this issue as one of primary design flaws.
Why is there no option to print packing slip from the sales invoice window? Current solution is to apparently change the status of the invoice. This, as many many have mentioned before and I am once again, is a big issue when it comes to e-mailing invoices. Essentially they need to be changed to another status in order to appear on the print packing slip window ( so anything but to be e-mailed) . THEN you are required to change them back to the "to be emailed" WHY? It should be independent.
Also may I recommend a tab in the print/mail invoices/packing slips window NEXT TO INVOICES stating if the packing slip has been printed and on what date. So when you DO open the "print/email invoices" window you are aware if something has or has NOT been printed out. This way it is a guessing game.
It is not a great task to implement these two things, but it would make this a much much better system to run.
Many people on here are not even aware of the voting. I am sure that I speak for majority of businesses selling items here ( obviously excluding services to a degree)....Please take this as a priority without just "cast your vote" and filing it amongst many other posts.
P.S. If I need to be corrected I am open for comments, maybe there is something that i am missing here.

In 19.5, if your file was set to print packing slips with invoices, and you changed and invoice to be emailed, you still got the option to print the packing slip. This no longer happens. It is a real work around to try to make this an easier process

i agree with the previous message, it is a pain if it can be reverted back as like the above I email the invoice and just need the packing slip to go with the goods.
Thank you for suggestion. You can print a packing slip without printing an invoice. To do this go to the sales command center and click print/email invoices. Click advanced filters and select the appropriate lpackin slip layout in the 'sale type' field.
I want to just print out the Packing Slip without the invoice, as above, but this doesn't work.
The Invoice still prints out first after we record the Order. We want to just print the Packing Slip when saving the Order and when we change it to a Invoice, Print the Invoice then.

Hello KattC and Liam_M, I had this discussion with a client yesterday. Whilst it is possible to print a packing slip using the Print/Email invoice screen, this is a very complex and unwieldy workflow for a single transaction.
What users would like, I think, is to be able to print a packing slip either when the sales order or invoice is recorded (without printing an invoice), or from the Print/Email options at the top of the invoice edit window.
For my client, the approach was to customise an invoice form to look like a packing slip, then to email it they print to a PDF writer, then attach it to an email using Outlook. This is also not ideal, but Emailing from within a sales transaction doesn't give the option to select a form. (Separate idea here). And the Email tab of the Print/Email window doesn't allow the same selections (eg Invoice type: Packing Slip Item) as does the Print tab.
Could this suggestion, and a number of others relating to packing slips, be considered as one project for your developers. I'm sure that a lot could be done to improve work flows around packing slips.
If you would like me to raise a new idea, please advise, or can we revert the status on this one.

Thanks for that feedback. While the option to print a packing slip without the invoice is already a feature available in the software, we do agree that perhaps there may be improvements that can be made to the process to provide our clients with a more efficient method (such as implementing an option to print packing slips straight from the order/invoice window).
